This will allow them to fly passenger's to the Sunshine coast in QLD as-well as connecting passenger's from rural australian city's to there global network. Oliver Cooksey, CEO and owner had this to say. "This is another big step for us. We know, just like many of our alliance member airlines just how hard competition is in countries like Australia and we will be working hard over the next few months to set up a network there. We have a load of A321 and F-100 on order and these all should be planted on routes operating out of OOL within the next year. We have also opened up a hub there to allow for connections on to our open network". OOL, Gold Coast is there first hub out of Asia. In other news, Pacific Airways has ordered 5 more A340's, all predicted to be used to connect OOL to the 4 other, asian hubs. There are rumors going around that pacific will place orders for 5 A320's that will, according to a news article from last year, be replacing older A320 models. ==== October 17, 1993 ==== Pacific airways CEO and Owner, Oliver Cooksey has just announced an order of 5 A321-100's. With rumors about these aircraft being used to replace the current A321-200 fleet he said"...Thats Bull ****. These aircraft will be used on completely new routes, expanding our network. Even though they have a lower range then the A320-200, they will be great on trips in which the F-100'S can't reach. These aircraft will be replaced by the A320-200 series when Airbus release it in a few years time. We will also be leasing some more A340-200's and F-100's over the next few months. Though we have recent loaned a high amount of A320's, we will not be buying anymore(Except for fleet renewal) for a few month's, allowing us to buy our current fleet in which we own 59 aircraft (all but 37 A320's.)" This is a big step forward for Pacific and should secure them financially for some time to come. Pacific Airway's fleet consists of a few variants of aircraft, each type designated to certain types of routes. "We try to keep our fleet new and replace any aircraft that is over 4 years old", says there CEO/Owner Oliver Cooksey. Pacific Airways A320 and 737 fleet are used mainly on inter-continental flights throughout asia. Pacific Airways are always adding more aircraft to this fleet and will continue to do so for years to come. The Fokker-100 Fleet, consisting of over 30 aircraft is used on short haul flights across asia allowing for even the most neglected of destinations to be serviced to. The A310 Fleet, Brought into service in August 1992 was funded to connect our Asian Hubs to Europe.
